How do I choose a surfboard?

Choosing the right board isn't always easy.

The following parameters need to be taken into account ( initially ):

Its weight and size

Your weight and height, your technical level and the type of wave you want to ride.

For the weight and the easy size, for the level it is a little as for the waves... we estimate them at 1metre whereas another person will estimate them at 2 meters or at 50 cms ( the Hawaiians have the habit of saying that the size of the waves is measured with the fear which inspires us... )

So it's a good idea to ask for different opinions, from the surfing buddies who accompany you on your sessions, from instructors if you're taking lessons, from specialist surf shops, so that you know where you stand and not where you think you stand.

Its Volume and Ratings

Then (in a second step) define a BOARD VOLUME and DIMENSIONS according to certain criteria: Style of surfing you want to practice (modern, old school, aggressive, fluid ...)

Postural dynamics (how I use my body in space, what are my balance and imbalance dynamics ...) It's also very important to try out other boards to establish visual and sensory points of comparison, which will also help you define your sensibility ( Shoartboard , Fish , longboard , Hybrid , Evolutive , Mid length .... ).

So many questions and answers that will be decisive in choosing the right support, the right volume, the right dimensions to find the ideal board!
